Leaving the Nest – All About the Chicks…and the empty nest

These posts are about my teenage girls leaving home for college and wherever life takes them.

It’s my Mom point of view of the emotional evolution.

Some entries are also my wife view about what it’s like to be alone with him again after all these years.

A reflection of the love and controversies of a mom and her daughters…and an old married housewife and her ball-and-chain.

  1. That’s where I am, too, D! Cecilia is in her second year. College life is different here, no dining hall, dorm rules, truly on your own! Cecilia has to food shop, cook, clean, etc without any help. She cleans the drains in the apartment, fixes problems with electricity, water, etc and helps her older roommate with the responsibilities of living on your own. At least there are two to help with the costs of the apartment, but boy do I see how easy we had it! Besides, she only has a bike. Food shopping on her bike, proud of my baby. Can’t wait to read your posts here. We can commiserate!

    1. Thanks, Julie. That will be helpful and icing on the cake to my blog. We have two daughters: one that is a college Freshman and one graduating from High School, ready to head out as well. I have the most notes and topics to write about on this topic. I’ll make it a goal to get out an initial piece. Thanks for the motivation and support.
